The Big Thicket Association will host its first Star Party on Saturday, October 20th from 7-10 PM at the Big Thicket National Preserve Field Research Station, 16890 FM 770, in Saratoga. The event is free but reservations are required. On this evening, according to Calvin Blakley, the moon will be almost in the first quarter. In its neighborhood in the southern sky will be several interesting nebulae and clusters including Lagoon Nebula, Trifid Nebula, Omega Nebula and Mars. In other parts of the sky the Andromeda galaxy and the Ring Nebula will be visible.
