Day 1 will be an introduction to the organisms at the Field Station. We will discuss the biology, common species, and how to collect in the field. Included will be a discussion of the best books, guides and web resources for identifying. After lunch, we will go out in the field for a field discussion of where and how to look for myxos.
Day 2 will start in the lab identifying any field collections and continuing with a slightly more advanced discussion of identification. Most of the day will be spent at another field site.
Materials to bring: sack lunch (both days), pocket knife, notebook and pen/pencil, one-layer tackle box (as seen in photo), hand lens or magnifying glass [all of these items are optional, but will make your trip more enjoyable and productive---especially the lunch]
